The World Court Project is an international citizens' network that is working to publicise and have implemented the 8 July 1996 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice, which could find no lawful circumstance for the threat or use of nuclear weapons. The World Court Project is part of Abolition 2000, A Global Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. IPB has worked on the legal dimension of the nuclear disarmament movement for many years. Our former President Sean MacBride was one of the pioneers of the effort to refer to the World Court the issue of the legal status of nuclear weapons. We have had a long collaboration with the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms, IALANA (IPB member). IPB was one of the three founding and coordinating international federations of the WCP. We are now engaged together in exploratory work regarding a possible 'return to the Court' on the issue of 'good faith'.
