IPB mourns the passing of Elisabeth Chapman

On the 3rd of February 2019, the highly esteemed peace activist Elisabeth (Betty) Chapman passed away in her home, in the Norwegian town of Re, at the age of 91.

She was actively engaged in developing a just and peaceful world until her last weeks. Betty was particularly active with the quakers and the work to create a peace tax, so that those who do not wish to support military “security” with their tax money can, instead, contribute to peacebuilding efforts. She initiated the establishment of a regional office of the Norwegian Peace Alliance in Tønsberg and was actively engaged in their work. Betty, who often expressed her views in local and national papers, was a long time individual member of IPB. The Norwegian peace movement has lost a beautiful person, in all senses of the word. Let her life be celebrated as a great inspiration!
